Ocean Export Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Ocean Export Specialist to join our Ocean Export Department. The Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient handling of all ocean export shipments while maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction. This role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to ensuring cargo moves smoothly from booking through final delivery.

Ocean Export Specialist Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Manage all aspects of ocean export operations from start to finish, ensuring smooth and regular flow of cargo traffic.
• Coordinate bookings, documentation, and communication with carriers, truckers, and overseas agents.
• Ensure clients receive the highest standard of service, with prompt responses and accurate shipment information.
• Collaborate with the Quality Compliance department to maintain and implement ISO9001 standards.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met or exceeded.
• Respond to requests for proposals, quotations, and information in a timely and professional manner, ensuring pricing is market-competitive and aligned with customer needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely billing on all files.
• Participate in semiannual performance appraisals and contribute to team performance goals.
• Actively support the company's sales and retention efforts through strong client communication and relationship management.
• Assist in conducting customer reviews to ensure continued satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Suggest and support process or system improvements to enhance department efficiency and service quality.
• Maintain compliance with company standards, contractual agreements, and all relevant export regulations.
• Perform any other duties necessary to ensure operational excellence and client retention.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in Ocean Export operations within a freight forwarding or logistics environment.
• Strong knowledge of export documentation, booking processes, and carrier requirements.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills with a professional and proactive attitude.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with CargoWise or similar logistics software preferred*
• Hazmat certification a plus.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• This is an on-site position. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required.
