Video Producer and Editor – WFYI Public Media Join to apply for the Video Producer and Editor role at WFYI Public Media. Position Purpose The Video Producer and Editor will be responsible for creating compelling digital and on-air content to attract, inform and engage new and returning audiences. This position works across production, news, radio, marketing, development, and partners with various departments at WFYI. From pre‑production to completion, the role produces multiple outputs for social media, streaming applications, radio, and television broadcasts, ensuring strategic content creation and publication. Additional support for other productions, both in studio and on location, may be required. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Generate story ideas and create local original content for digital series, shows, programs, podcasts and other platforms Write, shoot, edit, and publish video and digital content across multiple distribution platforms Coordinate and execute end‑to‑end production processes, including research, script writing, guest booking, scheduling, behind‑the‑scenes photography and social media updates Collaborate with other departments to produce engaging, effective content and assist with visual execution of radio, television, news, and digital efforts Tell compelling stories through video in a factual, engaging, audience‑focused manner Make regular appearances across public media platforms, including live broadcasts, social media, podcasts, and community events Edit in a variety of formats, including digital episodes, vertical videos, GIFs, teasers, promos and sizzle reels Create motion graphics for projects in the video department and content division Ensure content adheres to public media standards and remains on brand and on message Incorporate feedback throughout the production process and use data to adjust production and distribution methods Accommodate a flexible work schedule (some evenings, weekends, and holiday work may be required) Perform other duties as assigned Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Production, Journalism, Communications or related field 3+ years’ professional video production and video editing experience Digital portfolio or samples of previous work Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Excellent computer skills: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Mac and PC operating systems Ability to create motion graphics Creative mindset with the ability to work in partnership with others Professional and punctual attitude, always meeting deadlines and respecting colleagues Demonstrated ability to work and solve problems quickly and independently with little supervision Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under time constraints Demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative team environment with a high level of personal motivation Proven ability to work simultaneously on short and long‑term projects Preferred: Previous experience working in public media Multi‑camera studio directing experience Physical Demands Ability to interact professionally with others, both in person and through phone, e‑mail, and written correspondence Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, and phones Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail Ability to sit for extended periods of time and move intermittently throughout the workday Must be able to lift, kneel, carry and position equipment up to 50 pounds at times Indianapolis, IN | $16.00–$18.00 | 2 months ago #J-18808-Ljbffr WFYI Public Media
