Job Description

Phlebotomist at Providence Health and Services summary:

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients, handling specimen processing and shipping, and performing clerical tasks including patient registration. The role requires certification and experience in phlebotomy, with additional duties in training new staff and operating laboratory information systems. Description

All Sites: Reception and Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • 6 months of Direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training and Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training Program/Course approved by WA State.
