About the Role

The Blackledge Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Operator to oversee daily operation and maintenance of groundwater and surface water treatment systems that remove per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from AFFF release areas at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The position supports a long-term U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) remediation program.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily inspection, operation, and performance monitoring of PFAS groundwater and surface water treatment systems.
• Record flow, pressure, and sampling data; maintain system logs, gauges, and alarms.
• Coordinate and perform sampling, field measurements, and media change-outs.
• Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of pumps, tanks, filters, sensors, and control panels.
• Oversee waste handling and documentation per RCRA and CERCLA protocols.
• Assist with monthly and annual operations monitoring reports per permit requirements.
• Maintain compliance with EM 385-1-1 Safety, OSHA, and site-specific health and safety plans.
• Interface with Project Manager, USACE COR, and AFCEC RPM on technical performance, reporting, and field logistics.
• Lead or train site technicians and subcontractor personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience operating or maintaining environmental remediation, groundwater treatment, or industrial wastewater systems.
• Knowledge of PFAS or other emerging contaminant treatment systems preferred.
• Understanding of SCADA, flow/pressure monitoring, and sample collection protocols.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER (with current 8-Hour refresher).
• EM 385-1-1 or USACE site safety training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass Wright-Patterson AFB background screening.
• Strong communication, recordkeeping, and troubleshooting skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand or walk for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions while adhering to safety requirements.
