The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing all medical assistant duties competently and managing patient flow. Additional duties may include special projects, reports, administrative or compliance tasks as needed. General Duties / Responsibilities: Begin as telehealth (work from home / remote). Complete patient intake, including vitals, phlebotomy, vaccine administration, medical history, medication collection, and use of EMR and other systems. Handle patient check-in functions: eligibility verification, appointment scheduling, confirmation, and check-out within the EMR system. Complete HEDIS and other clinical alerts per protocols, including management of home monitoring systems if applicable. Provide excellent customer service, assisting with care coordination needs such as referrals and program enrollments. Address member concerns, complaints, or coordination needs related to services at clinics, primary care offices, or with health plans. Perform telephonic history-taking and pre-visit planning as needed. Facilitate referrals and authorizations between members, Alignment, specialists, and primary care providers. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 3 years of experience as a medical assistant, preferably in a physician office with managed care knowledge. Experience with internal medicine, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is required. High school diploma required. Medical Assistant Certification preferred; LVN/LPN or higher nursing certifications accepted. If no MA certificate, at least 3 years of demonstrated medical back-office competencies are required. Current Driver’s License and CPR/First Aid Certification are required. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred; other languages such as Vietnamese or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) are also a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Doximity, Zoom, and EMR (Athena) is required. Essential Physical Functions: Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms. Frequently lifts up to 10 pounds. May be required to travel to other clinic locations or patient homes.
