Role Summary

The General Space Volunteer supports the daily operations of the arts center by welcoming visitors, assisting with sales, and ensuring the gallery is a clean and inviting space. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy engaging with the public and supporting the arts in a hands-on way.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and close the gallery as needed, following established procedures.
• Greet and assist visitors, providing information about exhibitions, events, and the arts center’s mission.
• Process sales for artwork and boutique items, handling transactions accurately.
• Maintain a tidy and welcoming gallery space, performing light cleaning tasks such as dusting or sweeping as needed.
• Monitor the gallery to ensure the safety of artwork and visitors.
• Answer basic questions and direct inquiries to appropriate staff members when necessary.
• Support special events or exhibitions, including setup or breakdown assistance as needed.

Ideal Candidate

• Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic about the arts.
• Comfortable interacting with the public and providing excellent customer service.
• Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work independently once trained.
• Basic cash handling or point-of-sale system experience is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to assist with light cleaning duties to maintain a professional environment.
