AVP Underwriting Director Excess Casualty

Join Zurich North America as an Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director for our Excess Casualty/Umbrella team in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a customer industry advocate, improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering endtoend solutions.
• Employ a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
• Use risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at the point of sale.
• Identify gaps and align Zurichs products and value proposition to deliver contractual certainty to customers.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills and act as an innovative advisor.
• Underwrite, analyze, and grow new and renewal Umbrella business.
• Operate marketfacing and production activities within the growing Umbrella division.
• Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and rating manual rules.
• Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships.
• Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay is based on role, location, skills, and experience, following local laws. Eligible for bonuses and merit increases. Salary ranges: Executive Underwriter $113,100$209,300 (15% shortterm incentive) and Underwriting Director $149,500$276,900 (20% shortterm incentive). Hybrid remote working is available.
